Hi all,
My favourite boots, like Fritz's, are Dunlop Purofort, made in the =
Netherlands. When I became frustrated with having to replace my =
Canadian Tire boots on an annual basis, I went looking for =
better-quality boots that could stand up to heavy use. I've had these =
for 7 years, and they saw a lot of use during 5 years of atlassing. =
They were recommended to me by people working on fishing boats, who =
stand in them for many hours each day. I bought them at a fishing =
supply store in Louisbourg, Cape Breton. With good-quality insoles, =
they are immensely comfortable and provide good support.
They were only available in men's sizes, at least where I bought them, =
so mine are size 5 which translates to size 7 women's. They are wider =
than women's boots, which leaves lots of room for a pair of warm socks.
Cheers,
Susann Myers

Hi All,
I use Dunlop Purofort rubber boots which will be familiar to many =
commercial fishermen out there. I've been wearing them constantly now =
for over three years without a sign of cracking or even heavy wear. They =
weigh a third less than regular rubber boots and, with good heavy socks =
and insoles, are as comfortable as slippers even on long hikes over =
rough terrain. They are expensive (over $100.00) but well worth it for =
those who want to stay dry in boggy areas, wet fields and crossing small =
streams.=20
I bought mine at the Neils Harbour Fisherman's Co-op but they are =
most likely available at other stores. All the best.

Fritz - if you go stand in the corner, who will be our voice of the =
north?=20
All - on the weekend, Krista and I went up north and along with Fritz, =
had a good walk-about and got two nest boxes erected. See an amusing =
photo at the Facebook site https://www.facebook.com/NatureNS
We talked about many things, including, as naturalists will, Rubber =
Boots. I have been buying about one pair of insulated rubber boots a =
year, usually just from Canadian Tire. Fritz uses better quality boots =
(I forget the brand...Fritz?) which last longer, but are more expensive. =
What are others' preferences?
Randy
