I am sorry to hear that one can't now drive to Methols dam. Just one
more example of NSP acting like the company that one can quickly love to
hate. In more enlightened days, before NSP was privatised, NSP maintained
what amounted to an extensive public park system; e.g. garbage cans &/or
picnic tables at the canal on Route 12, Welton's Landing dam & Methols,
hiker-friendly structures etc.

At least one part of BRL, the cove from which West Branch Avon River
flows (the short crossing from the Narrows to this cove was the only part of
BRL I canoed), can go from dead calm to very rough in a matter of minutes.

For those who don't care for rough water, one could leave one vehicle
(#2) at the south arm of Little River Lake (access by Butler's road), go
down the canal to Methols and then paddle back to vehicle 2. I don't recall
much current downstream of LRL; perhaps because I never tried to go upstream
on that section.

YT, Dave Webster, Kentville
