Sunday, June 17, 2012 Hardwood lands

no Cliff swallows which was my main reason for visiting the hardwood lands
20+ bank swallows with a few tree and barn swallows
2 Kildeers
2 Spotted sandpipers
1 Eastern kingbird
2 Olive-sided flycatchers, no pishing needed at all
1 Pileated woodpecker
3 Alder flycatchers
2 Red eyed vireo
2 Ring necked ducks now raising the young
1 Swamp sparrow and its fledging
1 American kestrel
3 unidentified hawks

The hermit thrush pair was no show today. They were out feeding around my
car last a week ago (Sunday, June 10th)

a few warbler species (yellow, black and white, redstart) - I believe that
the warblers have settled down to raise their young

Cheers
Liz

Subject: [NatureNS] Missing species

To: all

From: John Sollows

Date: June 16/12

Yesterday and today, at low ride and high tide respectively, I looked for
that white pelican, starting at Pembroke and working north to Port Maitland,
without luck. Maybe it has pressed on.

Speaking of missing species, has anyone seen or heard any toads this year?
No warbling at our pond, yet and none seen in our neck of the woods on Wyman
road, near Yarmouth.
