I did a shorebird survey Saturday afternoon, from the Bissett Road =
parking lot to the Ready-Aye-Ready bridge, along approx. 3 kms of trail. =
Unfortunately, the wind became strong once I got out there, and =
shorebirds stayed largely under cover - I could hear many that I =
couldn't see. Ones that I did see, however, were:

Black-bellied Plover 9
Semipalmated Plover 21
Greater Yellowlegs 82
Willet 14 juveniles
Lesser Yellowlegs 9
Hudsonian Godwit 1, breeding plumage
Semipalmated Sandpiper 100
Least Sandpiper 5
Short-billed Dowitcher 670

There were also many terns, including lots of fledged young waitingn to =
be fed. And at the Bissett Road parking lot at 5:30 p.m., a =
Chestnut-sided Warbler singing brightly. I was lucky enough to coax him =
into view with some chickadee phee-bee calls.

Cheers,
Susann Myers
