There are actually many jellies and comb jellies (turtle food) in the =
BOF but I suspect not up the Shubenacadie River. We have had several =
sightings of leatherbacks in the last few weeks with one trapped in a =
herring weir but released. I was talking to a fisherman who saw a =
leatherback south of Grand Manan in May with a big jelly in its mouth.
Hopefully this turtle will be redirected back into deeper water and back =
out to the Bay.

Update, it beached again at low tide this afternoon and by the time =
people found it/got there the tide came in again...and it's off again. =
I hope they find it again next low tide as there's no food for it in the =
bay of fundy.I have a feeling this isn't going to end well :(

Hi Angela, someone posted that DFO said the tide took him out =
to sea..which I'm not sure I believe. One would think the incoming tide =
might push him in further( of course followed by outgoing tide). In =
either case if it's still in the Bay of Fundy that far in , not much =
food for it. I was talking to the Leatherback people at Dal and their =
main researcher was in Cape Breton but was driving up to see if they =
could spot it. I also called a few of the river rafting groups to ask =
them to keep an eye out as I imagine if it beaches again it will be at =
low tide. I haven't heard anything since yesterday and told the Dal =
people I would be willing to help if it beached again ( not that I can =
do much being that my experience with leatherbacks is ummm zero :).=20
Also had several people who know the area to go check and =
havent heard anything, still not sure who took the original picture and =
what time it was taken.=20
FYI, the # for leatherback sightings is:
