September 4, 2012
Salt Marsh Trail, Cole Harbour
Tide: Receding

During a late afternoon walk on the Salt Marsh Trail in Cole Harbour I =
noted 18 Black-bellied Plovers and 14 Common Terns resting on the rocks =
off shore on the north side of the trail about 200 meters before the =
first bridge. There were 8 Canada Geese resting/sleeping on the rocks =
as well. Further along the trail there were 20-30 Savannah Sparrows =
flitting about, near the 2 km marker after the second bridge. A few =
Lesser and Greater Yellowlegs were scattered around as well. With =
regard to the Black-bellied Plovers: there may have been a couple of =
American Golden Plovers in the group but distance and lighting did not =
permit a positive ID.
