Thanks to all, for your thoughtful and sincere responses. I will be sending them all on, to my neighbour, who asked for advice.
And just to clarify, the home owner, who is a sharp shooter, only used his sons pellet gun outside, and killed only, all the 3 squirrels, that he was aiming at, which were properly disposed of.
