But I also place millet on flat boards inside square lobster traps. Squirrels and cats (and hawks) can't get at the birds, and I can place a cover on top of the trap to keep snow off. if you know a lobster fisherman, they can likely make a custom version for you. I found mine washed up on beaches after storms.
