Hi folks,

Yesterday (10 Jan) around 11:00 am in the Orchards behind the Kentville
Research Station (the orchards you can see just south of the fence at the
top of Burger Hill):

several species were congregating around the apples on the ground and in
trees; flocking and fluttering as if expecting inclement weather (so,
difficult to get accurate counts):

95 *Bohemian Waxwing*
175 *American Robin* (at least)
75 *European Starling *(one sounding a lot like a chat)
2* Blue Jay*
1 *Northern Cardinal* (male)
10 *Dark-eyed Junco*
1 *Ring-necked Pheasant*
2 *American Goldfinch*
5* Evening Grosbeaks *(overhead)
2 *Pine Siskins*
1* Northern Flicker*
2* American Crow*

...was expecting some good finds in here, but, unfortunately, I did not
have time to scour. Back for another check today...

cheers,
James.
