This moss is typically green and not tufty in summer and = I have not noticed these soft burgundy tufts before. Does anyone know if this is new growth or ? The ground was covered = with a thick layer of ice and snow until our melt last week so the = growth was either under the snow or sprouted very quickly. I dubbed it a fruiting body (which is likely wrong) in the pictures = below.
