Hi, all-
In deciding when we are really in "the depths of winter", I have been in
the habit of using a rather old set of data for Shearwater airport. This
year, I decided to use more current data for Halifax International,
thinking that it would be more representative. So, today I got the
long-term average daily max and min temps for YHZ, and calculated the
daily average temperatures.
It turns out that the coldest days of the winter (averaging -6.45 deg.)
for YHZ are from January 27 through February 2, and that starting
February 3, the temperatures begin to rise again. So I'm happy to report
that starting yesterday, the depths of winter (at least at Halifax
International Airport) are over and the long-term average of
temperatures is again trending upward.
