Hi DaveThanks for the info - an interesting subject worthy of a museum.
Another possibility has been forwarded from a man who has lived a long time=
in the area.He says there is a deposit of yellow ochre somewhere near by. =
This was used in the natural state mixed with oil for paint but for red och=
re the yellow needed to be heated in a kiln. Red=A0was also mixed with oil =
for paint and both were used extensively in the area. Yellow ochre had to b=
e dried before it was mixed but I guess the sun would do that but a kiln mi=
ght have helped. When the snow goes more details might revel themselves.Have=
a nice winterPaul
