Good Morning all:

For the past few days I have been hearing sounds not unlike a Jay that has
been captured by a hawk. I have noticed a bird in a tree some distance
from our house but couldn't ID it until today. As I was hanging quilts on
the line I heard the sound again and along came a Merlin and as it got
closer I could see that it had prey and it began to vocalize as it was
flying towards the trees. I rushed inside for my binos and got back in
time to see the young bird come swooping out of another taller tree and as
it flew past the parent it snatched the prey and headed for the ground, the
parent bird quickly followed.

Quite amazing!!

Have a great day
