I was birding today just outside of Mulgrave, on a small trail when a
large hawk flew in and perched in a tree about 20 meters from me. I got
a very quick look with the binoculars - enough to conclude it was not a
Sharp-shinned or Red-tailed before it took off. As I followed on down
the trail, I spotted it again in a tree between 50 - 75 meters from me.
I had a good look for about 60 seconds and definitely concluded it was a
Northern Goshawk. A lifer for me. I may have encountered one previously
but have never identified one. DWJ
