Pat, others;
yes, the new temporary gravel bar at King=E2=80=99s Wharf is doomed =
as a nesting site for terns. It will be paved over and hardened. Of =
course, the terns don=E2=80=99t know that.=20
In my previous report on the Wrights Cove tern colony I wrote that =
=E2=80=9Canother good sign is that there were gulls around....=E2=80=9D =
Of course, I meant to say that there were NO visible gulls around.

Hello Dusan, and everyone,
I live close to the King's Wharf development, and I too have noticed =
the terns around the breakwater. They were here last year as well =
(arrived May 18th 2012, and I first noticed them this year on May 17th.) =
I do not think they will attempt to nest on the breakwater, as there is =
absolutely no cover for them, and there are far too many Herring and =
Greater Black-backed Gulls around for them to be successful, not to =
mention the fact that the King's Wharf developer could start up dumping =
more fill at the end of the breakwater at any time. So I'm really hoping =
that they don't even bother to try. They didn't last year - after =
checking the place out, they seemed to realise that it wasn't suitable =
and went elsewhere. With luck they will come to the same conclusions =
this year.
