We have noticed what appears to be a significant increase in the number =
of gulls around Freeport...particularly along the St. Mary's Bay shore. =
In particular, the gulls seemed to have taken over a popular swimming =
hole, and it is now contaminated to the point where water tests suggest =
it should not be used for swimming or any other human activity. A water =
test was done two years ago, before the arrival of the gulls, and the =
results showed it was safe to swim in.
My question is how can we track where these gulls are coming =
from...where they go on a daily basis. Where are they eating. What is =
their source of food. =20
I'd also like to get some instruction on how to accurately count the =
number of gulls hanging around the pond...and of course determine if it =
is, in fact, and abnormally high number. =20
Any suggestions as to how to go about this would be welcome.
Thanks,
Andy Moir
Freeport
