Hi all
Since I was away for a few weeks, I made a quick trip this afternoon to =
check out action at Halibuton Gut near the Pictou rotary despite the =
wind and snow. It was indeed a busy spot (as it usually is this time of =
year with the Silversides present) with maybe 5000+ birds present. The =
bulk of the birds were Bonaparte's Gulls - my quick estimate 4000. =
There were 5 Iceland Gulls, maybe 300 Hooded Mergansers and fewer, =
Common Mergs, Blacks and Mallards and Herring Gulls. I did not stay =
long, but no really obvious other small gulls but it would take a =
little time to dissect out something less common such as a Little Gull =
or Black-headed Gull.=20
Steve Vines had indicated that about a week ago there were close to 500 =
Hooded Mergs here. I will take my scope next time and get a better =
count.=20

At Forbes L. later in the afternoon there were 2 Ring-necked Ducks, 2 =
fem, N. Pintail, and 5 Bufflehead with the Blacks and Mallards.=20

cheers
Ken
