Hi:
Note the facebook link does not work because it needs a "n" after the "d" i=
.e "network".

To a (offshore) fisherman=2C basking sharks are not that uncommon but unfor=
tunately very few fishermen carry cameras. However they all have GPS & if t=
here was a way to get the word to them=2C you may learn a lot about this sp=
ecies

We're trying to get more people =0A=
talking about the Shark Identification Network (SIN)=2C which is a platform=
 for =0A=
reporting shark sightings in Atlantic Canada (well=2C Gulf of Maine up to =
=0A=
Newfoundland=2C to be specific). This platform also allows people to submit=
 =0A=
photographs of basking sharks to our Photo ID Catalogue. The objective is t=
o =0A=
gain a better understanding of shark distribution and occurrence in this re=

and the more people we have submitting sightings and photographs=2C the bet=

SIN began in the Bay of Fundy a couple years ago=2C an initiative of the Gr=

Manan Whale and Seabird Research Station=2C in partnership with World Wildl=

Fund and funding from the Habitat Stewardship Program (HSP). Thanks to fund=

from HSP=2C we expanded to the rest of Nova Scotia and the Gulf of Maine th=

To try and reach more people=2C we also =0A=
