Hi all:
=20
Dorothy Poole and I did the Port L'Hebert count today. Very quiet in the w=
oods overall. We were only able to come up with 30 species in our area=2C =
and we really worked to get those. =20
=20
Believe it or not a European starling is rare for that route. We had one a=
t Sandy Bay Beach of all places. We struck out on shorebirds=2C which we u=
sually get on the flats=2C but liken that to two sets of Duck/Goose hunters=
set up right on the flats. We had two great blue herons at Port Joli. Th=
is is just a note for such. Within the count area other species of note we=
re three grey jays. Very hard to find this year for me. I saw my first on=
e only on Dec. 14 in Hebbville and normally I'd have seen quite a few by th=
en. In the pocket wilderness area we had 980 Canada geese=2C 337 American =
black ducks and three northern pintails with a few other duck species. =20
