It=E2=80=99s interesting how gray jays still seem to be common up Cape =
Breton way. I have been back home in Yarmouth in the winters now for =
over ten years, and they became unusual some time before that. Do you =
Cape Bretoners find they are declining?

I've had a hairy woodpecker here since early Dec. It's here everyday. =
Lots of American goldfinch, juncos, chickadees, blue jays and gray jays. =
Oh, and a ruffed grouse in one of my white birch, most mornings.=20

I wonder if anybody else is experiencing a shortage of birds , =
especially woodpeckers at feeders recently??=20
Last winter I was going through bird pies at least one every day. =
Woodpeckers, hairy, downy , and pileated were very frequent and the =
sunflower seed was getting a lot of attention. . By contrast currently I =
am rarely seeing anything. Maybe that ice storm we had is to blame?=20
