I did my second owl monitoring route last Saturday night. The winds were s=
upposed to be only 10-15 km. A quarter of the way through the wind speed i=
ncreased to between 30-40 km or even more and continued blowing constantly =
with the wind roaring through the trees and the trees swaying strongly. Ne=
edlessly to say I'll need to redo the route. I only came up with one barre=
d owl=2C which was what I expected considering the weather. The roads were=
extremely bad=2C so I'll probably wait another week or two before returnin=
g to try again. This route goes from Rhodes Corner to Whynott's Settlement=
=2C through to Maitland=2C and up through to Sweetland near Lake Mush-A-Mus=
h. The ground mounds heaved up and ruts were worse then any other year oth=
er then the first time that I ran the route. =20
