I=C2=A0ran my second of three owl routes I do with Pat Chalmers=0Aon Saturd=
ay night.=C2=A0 The first one was Pat=E2=80=99s=0Aroute in Tangier =E2=80=
=93 she=E2=80=99ll tell you about that shortly. =C2=A0We took Dennis Hipper=
n with us, for his first=0Aever owl route, into the former Bowater lands at=
Sandy Lake, Tantallon.=C2=A0 We encountered a lot of ATV=E2=80=99s and dir=
t bikes=0Awhich may have contributed to the lack of owls at our first six s=
tops.=C2=A0 The only owl we had was a distant Barred=0Awhich Pat detected.=
=0AAt stop 7 we hit gold.=C2=A0 Pat and Dennis heard a rustling in the tree=
s on the far side of the=0Aroad, then an owl flew across the road right ove=
r our heads.=C2=A0 It then defecated loudly!=C2=A0 We all clearly heard the=
 plop/splat as the=0Afeces hit the ground.=C2=A0 It then started=0Acalling =
and flying back and forth over our heads.=C2=A0 We all got really good look=
s at it.=C2=A0 We moved along as quickly as we could so as=0Anot to disturb=
it any further. =C2=A0At stop 8=0AI picked up a distant Saw-whet and at st=
op 9 we had a pair of Barreds fly in=0Aand call to us =E2=80=93 scold us? =
=C2=A0We could=0Aclearly see the two of them on a branch about 20 feet over=
our heads.=C2=A0 At stop 10 we had a much closer Saw-whet.=0ANo Great Horn=
eds, but we were all pleased with what we saw=0Aand heard.=0ACheers;=0ASuza=
