Hi All, May 2, 2014
Movements of this type would be far more effective if they were =
united in both what they are for and in what they are against. It is all =
very well to be against use of oil, coal, wood, wind and water but in =
the real world one must chose the lesser of available evils which are, =
hands down, sun, wood, wind and water.
=20
To paraphrase Shakespere, the fault lies in ourselves, not in the =
pipes, that we are oil pigs.
According to conventional wisdom, one can use wind for only about =
30% of need; whereas with planning and enough towers it could satisfy =
all electrical demand by the simple expedient of pumping water uphill =
when wind power was excessive and using this potential energy for hydro =
power when wind was slack.=20
Due to a failure in Federal leadership, going way back, we have a =
multitude of unqualified people in tiny communities attempting, on the =
basis of incestuous gossip, to determine local acceptable setback =
standards when this should have been an ongoing National Research =
Council project based on science, measurement and, if applicable, =
revision/refinement.=20
