On a short dive on a side road near Sonora around 9am this morning, I counted at least 8, mostly eating new growth in the roadside ditches. Also, a few hopping around my cottage. This is more than I have seen in the area in 40 years. There also seems to be a large jump in the population of Ruffed Grouse.
