Richard's observation is interesting. There must be great variations in abundance even within Canada. I've noticed when visiting Montreal in past years that there seemed to be lots of Chimney Swifts overhead there. Montreal, like some of Richard's European sites, has lots of old buildings with old stone or brick chimneys. The powers-that-be aren't busy tearing down everything old in the name of progress.
