While fishing for mackerel at the south end of the St. Peter's canal
yesterday, a fisherman beside me caught a strange creature. He caught it
about 10 ft. below the surface in an area of water that is about 30
feet deep. It was fairly round, somewhere between a softball and a
baseball in size, dark brown, and seemed quite slimy. It seemed to have
a "mouth" or hole in which it was hooked. It was definitely living, and
when the fisherman cut it open, it was full of "guts". Any one know
what it would be?
Billy
