This sounds like a good place to visit on Robie Tufts Day (Monday, August 1=
1, the 130th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the N. S. Bird Soci=
ety and author of The Birds of Nova Scotia). I try to visit some of his fa=
vourite haunts in the Grand Pr=E9 - Evangeline Beach area on that day, and =
I see that high tide is at 1357, so I suppose that we should be there by 11=
00 or 1130. If anyone is interested in joining me, meet at the parking are=
a of Grand Pr=E9 NHP at 1000, or at Evangeline Beach (by interpretive signs=
) at 1100.

The last time I was there, the gate was closed on the dyke road between Hor=
tonville and the Guzzle. Does anyone know if it is open yet? I'm guessing=
that this report was from just north of the Planters' Monument. I see tha=
t some visitor reported a Field Sparrow from the Guzzle area to eBird (alon=
g with quite a few other unlikely species from Kings Co.) Has anyone else =
seen or heard this?

Cheers,
Wayne Neily

Here's my eBird report from Hortonville this morning. Just submitting a lis=
t doesn't do the experience justice - I stood at Hortonville for nearly an =
hour at high tide, with massive flocks of Peeps swirling around , taking of=
f and landing on the rocks looking to the east, Bald eagles soaring high in=
the air and heading down to the fields looking to the west, and a constant=
stream of Bank and Barn swallows flying all around me for the whole time. =
Just before leaving, a flock of beautiful Black-B.Plovers flew in and lande=
d on the rocks.
