Subject: Red-bellied Woodpecker and Cooper's Hawk

After I gallivanted all over Nova Scotia today the best production by =
far came from our evening walk along Sandy Cove Road. First up was a =
Red-bellied Woodpecker sitting on a wire. Shortly thereafter came a =
Sharp-shinned Hawk that scattered the Northern Flickers. Next up was a =
Cooper's Hawk; large, square tailed and barrel chested. This scattered =
the Sharp-shinned Hawk. We heard a loud four part warning =
call(presumably) from a Canada Jay, a call I've never heard before. =
Needless to say there was a lot of back and forth activity across Sandy =
Cove Road. Sandy Cove's beach was empty thanks to a recent visit by a =
small white dog and its driver.

Earlier, I visited Mount Uniacke Museum Estate. I walked a portion of =
the Wetland's Trail looking for woodpeckers and owls and then the =
manicured grounds in front of the estate home. Only a White-breasted =
Nuthatch announced its presence at both locations. At Anthony Provincial =
Park I found the largest gathering of warblers and vireos I've =
encountered this fall although no rarities.
