A professor dropped by around 5 p.m. to tell me that a bunch of crows were making a fuss around Ocean Pond on the Dalhousie Campus. They were harrassing an owl in the trees there. By the description, it was a Barred Owl. I hope to be able to check it out before sunset, as soon as I can get away from work.

Ocean Pond is a small freshwater wetland (funded as a study site by Ocean Contractors) adjacent to the Chase Building on the Studley Campus at Dalhousie University. I have long harboured hopes of finding something interesting there, but I always thought of a rail or the like, not an owl!

Cheers,
