Please Note:
The Scheduled Presentation (Ocean Tracking Network) had to be postponed.

Replacement Presentation:

The Right to a Healthy Environment

Jamie Simpson, Executive Director of the East Coast Environmental Law
Association, will talk about a healthy environment. He will discuss
the right to a legally binding healthy environment for Nova Scotians,
and outline the impacts it has had elsewhere in the world.

The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms contains nothing about our
right to a healthy environment, unlike other countries that legally
protect this right. Nor has the Province of Nova Scotia legislated
this right. A healthy environment encompasses the right to clean air,
water and safe soil and food.

Holiday Social

Our annual members' Holiday Social will take place after the above
talk. Please bring your sweets or savouries and non-alcoholic
beverages to the usual meeting area. A subscription to the Halifax
Field Naturalist would make a good Christmas gift! Bring your money or
a cheque. Please note - there are no facilities for heating food.

When: Thu Dec 4, 2014 7:30pm - 9:30pm
Where: Auditorium of the Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History, 1747
Summer Street, Halifax
