I don't know if the dozen= or so mourning doves that were milling about at the time may have dissuade= d him. About thirty minutes later I heard a "thump" on the window by the bird feed= ers. There had been some chickadees and goldfinches there and I figured it = had to have been something that size as I had only had one bird hit that wi= ndow in the past (a goldfinch that didn't survive, sadly). I went to the wi= ndow and looked down to see if the bird was still active but it was too lat= e as there was a sharp-shinned hawk standing there on top of a small bird (= I couldn't tell as its feet covered most of it. The bird must have panicked= when the hawk came through and ended up hitting the glass. The hawk clearl= y took advantage of the situation! It stood there for about 5 seconds looki= ng around to make sure nothing was going to try and get its mean (me includ= ed!) and then flew off with its prey. So now I get to add a sharpie to by 2014 yard list!
