> Black, Grey and all the color variations in between, they are all the same Judy. All color morphs have danced among my feeders thumbing their rodent noses at most of my attempts to keep them from feasting. I'm afraid you will be visited by them on a regular basis unless a Great Horned Owl has some successful hunting. Interestingly, they are subordinate to the Red Squirrels when the two meet at my feeder.
>
> Checking on the bird feeders this afternoon in our backyard brought a rather dismaying surprise. A big BLACK squirrel was calmly sitting on a hanging sunflower seed feeder scoffing seeds as fast as possible. Not a bird or a RED squirrel to be seen!
>
> I noted this squirrel was not quite as big as a Grey but definitely much bigger than our Reds.
>
>
>
> A couple of years ago we had a brief visit from very large GREY squirrel, and are relieved that it has not shown itself again but know it may just be a matter of time before we may have to deal with this invasive species on a daily basis.
>
>
>
> Cheers,
>
