> Pat and I have been wondering about how well our various spring birds =
are making out, especially here in The Valley compared with other areas =
of the province. Nearly all of the robins we have seen looked fat and =
very healthy, but we heard on Thursday that Michael Laceby of The =
Blomidon Inn in Wolfville found two dead robins that morning (he said =
that superficially they looked big and normal to him). I have been =
especially worried about the early woodcocks, which have been so =
incredibly abundantly reported by everyone this year of the very late =
spring. Two days ago we heard by way of a Sierra Club message that Hope =
Swinimer had quite a few woodcocks at Hope For Wildlife in Seaforth that =
were in need of care. Very few of the reported sightings to us on =
naturens have been of birds in distress, but both Andrew Hebda and Hope =
Swinimer reported oodles of calls about distressed or dying birds of =
various kinds, including especially robins. Maybe we can find out from =
Helene Van Doninck in Truro about how she is faring in the wildlife =
rehab=92 business, compared with Hope For Wildlife.

another is not in good shape and needs assistance. Not the lady, but =
