Dorothy Poole and I attempted to run my second owl monitoring route last ni=
ght. The one that goes from Rhodes Corner=2C through to Whynotts Settlemen=
t=2C through Maitland and up to Sweetland. We were able to complete the fi=
rst five stops fine=2C on roads far worse than normal. After that we would=
have needed a very high end four wheel drive or high vehicle to get throug=
h or a tank. The road was very soft with deep ruts and mud heaved up all o=
ver the road. When I walked on it=2C I sunk in about 8-10 inches. I figur=
ed that we might be able to come in from the other end and was able to comp=
lete one other stop. The other end of the road=2C which comes out in Sweet=
land was just as bad. So six out of ten stops completed with one barred ow=
l only. There is still a foot and a half to two feet of snow all along the=
route roadside=2C in the woods and in peoples yards. I'll access the rout=
e again near the end of the owl monitoring period to see if it is driveable=
. If not I won't be able to complete that one this year. =20
