Taste has been mentioned in this thread, see James Churchill's post earlier
for best example. I'm only now upping my coffee brewing game so I'm not the
best one to judge taste but I will say that I just finished my first cup of
Birds & Beans medium roast and my first home grind and I'm really pleased
with my first attempt. It had excellent flavour but I will make it a bit
stronger for my next try.

You can see the prices in the pic I linked to. The price of Birds & Beans is
in line with organic coffee and there appears to be little or no premium on
the Bird Friendly certification.

That natural food store started out as Great Ocean then they were bought by
Planet Organic about 8 years ago give or take. About 2 years ago they were
bought by a BC couple that moved and they rebranded it to Organic Earth
Market. I don't know about the samosas but I find their prices pretty good
for a natural food store and I buy a lot of my groceries there.

I've followed most of this thread, but strangely completely missing from the
discussion are the important questions 'but does it taste good?' and 'is it
priced competitively?'. We currently buy medium roast Columbian whole beans
from Java Bean in Halifax, quite expensive but makes good-tasting coffee,
though not a good as the Zambian beans they no longer offer. They keep
changing their source for Columbian beans, though, and these are not touted
as bird friendly. So has anyone actually tasted the bird friendly coffee
discussed in these posts, a not unimportant consideration for some?

I don't go shopping much - is the Organic Earth Market the renamed place on
Quinpool Road, Halifax (more or less opposite the King Wah Chinese
restaurant), good place for catnip but which offers outrageously priced
samosas?

Yes it is in and they have a nice, prominent display for it and it looks

well. They have multiple roasts in ground and whole bean.

I won't link to a pic of their display here because it may prevent my post
from appearing. I'll try linking to it in a following message but if it
doesn't show up you can also find the picture in my Birds Shared/Doc Shots
folder which is linked to from the NS Bird Society link's page.

I just received the following message from Birds & Beans. I may get there
later today to see if Organic Earth Market has it on the shelf yet. Thanks
to everyone else who contacted them too.

"I have some good news - late last week we sent the initial shipment of
coffee to the Organic Earth Market - it should be there and available to
purchase now.

It is my understanding that they received a number of requests from people -
so thank you very much for your effort. They seem to be a really good choice
of a partner for us.

We are excited to be there and look forward to working with them to promote
Bird Friendly coffee in Halifax."
