Wow, quite a lot of activities to keep participants busy... Thanks for the
report and website.

Thanks.

It was not a NSBS field trip. It was part of the Festival of Nature
(http://www.naturenb.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/FON_2015_web.pdf) and was
trip number 37 in the list.

The walk was along the grassy/shubby divider between the two large bodies of
water. Lots of red-winged blackbirds. We had a pair of swamp sparrows,
yellow warblers, Canada geese, mallards, a pair of greater scaup,
ring-necked ducks, several American widgeons, lots of soras (calling, but we
didn't see any), pied-billed grebe, a female harrier, and bald eagle and a
few tree swallows. We also had a pair of ducks with the female on the nest,
but can't recall the species from memory. The main reason we went there was
to see black terns and we saw about 5-6 but you can't see them from the
parking lot as they tend to stay further out. We saw one other bittern
(flying low at a distance once we reached the "end" of the trip along the
"dyke" (where there is some elephant grass)).
