Busy time at the feeders and having a hard time with Jays that will strip
them in a couple of days and not let the little guys near. Solved the
problem by enclosing a feeder in an old wire mesh crab trap that closes in a
pyramid. The chickadees and finches can get in but not the Jays. No cardinals
for about three weeks. They wintered over here last year and produced a
healthy brood this year but are all gone now. Our Otters are still very active
on the waterfront crapping all over the floats but apparently have run out
of lobsters since there are no remains.
