Just wanted to note great success with something Santa left in my
stocking. It is a hanging feeder from Veseys, the seed company. About 14 inches
tall and 8 or so inches in diameter with a baffle that keeps off snow and rain
and slots that only allow small birds to feed. Takes a lot of seed but
after filling it Boxing day there is still half the seed there with small birds
feeding every day. None of the precip, snow or rain made any difference.
Not inexpensive but cuts down a lot on refilling. Have the usual gang, lots
of chickadees, RB nuthatches, blue jays, downy WPs, and a couple of flocks
of Purple and gold finches in the last few days. Also doves and crows and a
few Juncos.
