Check out this exciting bit of news from the Canadian Sea Turtle network!
Normally this type of stranding story doesn't have a happy ending. Here's
hoping the little guy continues to hold on!

https://canadaseaturtle.wordpress.com/2015/11/10/meet-eric/

It's worth noting that about a few weeks ago the network was asking for
regular beach-walkers to keep their eyes open for stranded turtles. See
copy and pasted message below from the Canadian Sea Turtle Networks
Facebook Page:

"We are launching a brand new pilot project that will require volunteers.
We are hoping some of you will be able to help us learn more about how
often sea turtles get stranded on our beaches.

Our new Sea Turtle Beach Patrol project aims to put dedicated effort into
searching for sea turtles - leatherbacks AND hard-shelled sea turtles -
that wash up on our beaches, in the hope of better understanding the
frequency and distribution of these animals in our waters. This study will
make a meaningful contribution to both our sea turtle research and
conservation efforts in Atlantic Canada.

Requirements for participants:
-Live in the Canadian Maritime provinces, particularly Nova Scotia
-Live near an ocean beach or be willing to drive to one on a weekly basis
-Be 18 years of age or have an adult participate with you

If you'd like more information on how to get involved, please email
khamelin@seaturtle.ca or give us a call at our office: 902-423-6224. Feel
free to share with any nature-loving friends!"

Best,
Ian
