=C2=A0Frankly I wish they would not fix it. The area is a Park Reserve but =
has become a mecca for walking dogs. People with dogs walk right by the sig=
ns and 9/10 let them go off-leash (contrary to regulations stated on the si=
gns). The dogs are very disruptive =C2=A0of peeps during their migratory st=
ops on the beach let alone any possibility for Piping Plover nesting again =
on the upper beach. It is even referred to in social media as a dog-friendl=
y beach. This past summer, cars were lined up as far back as one could see;=
there are no constructed parking =C2=A0areas, no facilities... we definite=
ly need a different approach to managing the area. Fixing the boardwalk is =
not consistent with the Park Reserve functions. Perhaps DNR could hire some=
students to inform visitors about the status of the area. From: "kate=

That happened last winter and they didn't repair it this year. You must hav=
e
been there at high tide? You can usually cross though boots will of course
greatly increase your chances of being able to.

Subject: [NatureNS] Conrad's Beach - West Lawrencetown, NS

Hi everyone,

I parked in the parking area at Conrad's Beach today and attempted to walk
to Conrad's Beach. To my surprise the boardwalk is badly damaged with two
large sections missing. It wasn't possible to walk to Conrad's Beach
without wearing a wet suit or hip waders. Several surfers walked through
the cold water in their wet suits to access the beach. I had to turn
around without going to the beach. Does anyone know what's going on here?
Any news on a time frame for repair? Looks like we are shut out of a major
birding site unless a person wants to brave those cold waters or calculate
tides safely.

Chris Peters
