A Winter Solstice Celebration
Monday, December 21, 2015

The Blomidon Naturalists Society and the K.C. Irving Enironometal Science C=
entre have teamed up!

You are invited to join us to celebrate our connection to Earth ... and eac=
h other. Meet at the entrance to the Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens, 32 U=
niversity Avenue, Acadia University.
Starting at 6:30 PM, until around 9 PM Dress according to the weather!

The Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year. At our location on Ear=
th, winter is the season of dormancy, darkness and cold. However, the Decem=
ber solstice marks the "turning of the Sun"; the daylight hours increase. I=
t=92s the beginning of brighter days to come and looking forward to the con=
tinuance of nature=92s cycles. Throughout history, cultures have celebrated=
during the time of the December Solstice, with feasts, festivals and holid=
ays.

ACTIVITIES (weather dependent) A Nature Walk in Moonlight, Star Gazing, Sto=
rytelling and Singing around the Bonfire.
