I always thought that Devils Island or Georges Island would have been a
good place for the Mother Canada statue. So many left=C2=A0here and some
never to come back from our Harbour that=C2=A0it would be a fitting
place.=C2=A0 Even to this day.
=C2=A0
Maybe they could make it hollow from the top for Chimney Swifts (as
mother canada welcomes her children home)=C2=A0to appease certain people.
It would sort of be like the statue of Liberty of New York and give us
a worthy landmark. Our Navy who still leaves here on all our behalf
would surely appreaciate her as I would.
=C2=A0
Sincerely,
=C2=A0
ps, I did not think=C2=A0a point=C2=A0of CB was the proper place.

The only thing that troubles me is that the location (in a national
park) was not quoted as one reason for not going forward.=C2=A0 Wonder if
the project would have got the nod, in the absence of concerns about
funding and design (whatever that means).

If it must be built, put it somewhere else, not in a place where
environmental preservation is a priority.

Hi All,
=C2=A0
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0

This comes as no surprise to me but, according to the CBC, Parks Canada
has withdrawn support for the 'Mother Canada' statue that was planned
for the CBHNP. I doubt this monument will now=C2=A0ever be built=C2=A0as
without the park site and government=C2=A0financial=C2=A0backing it has no
real=C2=A0viability. Good news for=C2=A0park=C2=A0lovers, particularly the
CBHNP,=C2=A0and fans of natural habitats=C2=A0everywhere. All the best.
