I=E2=80=99m curious, Darrell. Is it the IDEA of the big statue (and =
what it would represent) that you like, or the specific look of that =
particular proposed statue?

I always thought that Devils Island or Georges Island would have been a =
good place for the Mother Canada statue. So many left here and some =

Maybe they could make it hollow from the top for Chimney Swifts (as =
mother canada welcomes her children home) to appease certain people. It =
would sort of be like the statue of Liberty of New York and give us a =
worthy landmark. Our Navy who still leaves here on all our behalf would =
surely appreaciate her as I would.=20
Sincerely,
ps, I did not think a point of CB was the proper place.

Yes, good news.
The only thing that troubles me is that the location (in a national =

If it must be built, put it somewhere else, not in a place where =
environmental preservation is a priority.

Hi All,
=20
This comes as no surprise to me but, according to the CBC, Parks =
Canada has withdrawn support for the 'Mother Canada' statue that was =
planned for the CBHNP. I doubt this monument will now ever be built as =
without the park site and government financial backing it has no real =
viability. Good news for park lovers, particularly the CBHNP, and fans =
of natural habitats everywhere. All the best.
