As Doug points out=2C in respect to CBHNP & other NPs=2C they were built d=
uring the Great Depression to provide employment & attract tourists. A wort=
hwhile endeavour in my opinion. Incidentally the CBHNP golf course was buil=
t on farmland=2C especially along the Clyburn.

Don't forget that the Ingonish course goes back to an earlier era (the '30s=
=2C I believe). Besides=2C it was built as a links course - - minimal i=
nterference with nature=2C walking only. So at least until recent "improvem=
ents" it was not much of a burden. If anything=2C it may have attracted vi=
sitors who might never have otherwise entered a national park.=0A=
As for its impact today=2C I can't comment=2C but it may bear looking into.=

Exactly..carved out of a wilderness..similar phrasing was used by the devel=

Golf is a harder sell=2C particularly where it undermines ecological integr=
ity. Old farms would be a better fit for a golf course.

Great videos=2C but too short. =20

I was shocked to find we have a golf course in a national park=2C in Cape B=
reton=2C "carved out of one of Canada"s most pristine wildernesses" ...!
