In contrast to this encouraging news about one species, the N.Y. Times today (26 Feb 2016) points to an upcoming meta-analysis (= no new research) by a self-described intergovernmental body, in an article entitled "Decline of pollinators poses threat to world food supply, report says".

The NYT article summarizes some dire predictions and general alarm statements (20,000 species of bees risk extinction worldwide), but to see the actual details it would be better to wait until this coming Monday, when the NYT says that the actual report will be published, apparently by a link from this site:

http://www.ipbes.net/work-programme/pollination

Don't hold your breath until then -- there's not much on this IPBES site at present, just a ponderous list of international venues, time lines and objectives. IPBES is short for Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services.

Here’s some good news for a change — last night’s CBC National News had one-liners about both monarchs and other insects too?? doing well. Cheers from Jim in Wolfville, and thanks to Jeff Moore of JustUs! for this tip!
