Anglers call those "Winter Caddis" Nancy
</div>
<div>
Quite common around Nova Scotia but they don't move
</div>
<div>
far from running water and fly on mild days. Sometimes I've seen birds
</div>
<div>
gathering around a brook and looking closely they were feeding on them.
</div>
<div>
Caddis don't get much press but are important in the food chain.
</div>
<div>
They and Stoneflies are a very important source of protein ahead of egg laying time.
</div>
<div>
Thanks for the picture - enjoy the late winter
