I have been monitoring the Ravens nest located on Brookdale Cres., Grahams Grove Boardwalk area, here in Dartmouth for the past month or so.
This week, after MANY days/weeks, of not seeing or hearing the parents, & thinking they had abandoned the nest, I heard some 'baby' sounding caws from the tree yesterday.
I saw one of the parents flying back with something in its beak, & landing on the roof of the condo building close to the nest.
The property maintenance person was there raking and picking up garbage, and I asked him about the nest.
He said, oh yes, they are still there, but are continually harassed by the crows. He says, the Ravens never fight back. He said he started hearing some squawks & little caws earlier this week.
And yes, he said, by early Winter, these Ravens return & are very vocal with many different calls!
I asked him where he thought the Ravens were finding food. He said 'across the street, somewhere'.
Resourceful birds, for sure!!
