Shorebird migration at Eastern Shore sites, as in other areas, has been =
unexpectedly heavy.

First noticed as unusual here for spring were on my shorebird surveys, =
Saturday, May 7:
    Seaforth/Three Fathom Hbr. (seen from Causeway Road):                =
        6 Black-bellied Plover
    West Chezzetcook Marsh (seen from Shore Road):                       =
             9 Short-billed Dowitcher

Further sightings:
West Chezzetcook Marsh (from Shore Road), approx. 2 hours before low =
tide, May 10:
    Greater Yellowlegs        6
    Willet                            12
    Lesser Yellowlegs          6
    Sanderling                      1
    Semipalmated Sandpiper    1
    Least Sandpiper                  1
    Short-billed Dowitcher        20

Seaforth/Three Fathom Hbr. (from Causeway Road), approx. 2 hours before =
low tide, May 11:
    Black-bellied Plover    14
    Greater Yellowlegs     17
    Willet                           8
    Lesser Yellowlegs        1
    Sanderling                    1
    Ruddy Turnstone          4
    Red Knot                       5
    Semipalmated Sandpiper    6
    Short-billed Dowitcher    61
    Long-billed Dowitcher    1

It would be great to hear about shorebird sites that haven't been =
reported on, over the next week.
