Naturalists and Maritimes Swiftwatch have a special event = planned for this coming Friday evening in New Glasgow. . =20 A SWIFT NIGHT OUT!=20 Friday, May 27th 7:00pm-9:00pm=20 Talk at New Glasgow Library, followed by Chimney Swifts viewing at 334 = Temperance Street=20 =20 Every spring, hundreds of Chimney Swifts arrive in New Glasgow from = South America, putting on spectacular shows when they go to roost at the = former Temperance Street Elementary School each night. Join us to learn = about Chimney Swift biology, why these birds are disappearing, and what = we can do to help! After the presentation (weather permitting) we will = make our way down to the former Temperance Street Elementary School to = watch hundreds of swifts come to roost for the night in the chimney. = It's a natural phenomenon! The Chimney Swifts have returned once again earlier this month to their = roost at the old Temperance St. School and are providing a fine display = of nature as dusk approaches. On fine sunny evenings this week, the = swifts are going in just after 9pm but gather before that.
