Subject: Re: [NatureNS] Swallows

Just yesterday, I checked on the barn swallow situation in the Tantallon
Rona Store at Exit 5 on the 103; the rafters of their big open-ended
bulk storage area have been used by considerable numbers of nesting barn
swallows for years and the area normally resounds with their chittering;
yesterday, though I saw and heard only a couple of them in the vicinity
of the store, it was relatively very silent (but I have not previously
paid attention to exactly when they reach full volume). I asked one of
the staff about them and he said there were "lots".......
I will keep an eye on this and report back later.
